From High School to Real-World Experience
While I was still in school, I had the chance to gain real-world experience working at Virginia Tire & Auto for a year. It was there that I honed my craft, applying what I’d learned in the classroom and picking up new expertise along the way. This experience solidified my love for working on cars and helping people keep their vehicles in top shape.
Expanding My Skills at Book’s Automotive
After high school, I moved to Colorado Springs and took a position at Book’s Automotive, where I worked for a year and a half. During that time, I focused on preventative maintenance and brake jobs—tasks that are critical for keeping cars safe and reliable. But my work wasn’t limited to the shop. I was also the go-to mechanic for friends and family, treating every repair with the same care and dedication as if the car were my own.
Turning My Subaru STI into a Passion Project
Beyond maintenance and repair, I found joy in modifying my own performance car—a 2016 Subaru STI. I loved working on it, upgrading parts, and tweaking it to improve performance. That hobby naturally extended to helping my buddies in our car group with their builds and repairs. It wasn’t just about the cars; it was about the camaraderie and the shared passion for making something run better than it ever had.

While I eventually transitioned into a career in Computer Science, my passion for cars never faded.
